Nanxiang Steamed Bread Store is located beside Nine-Turn Bridge of Yu Garden. In the 26th year of Emperor Guangxu (1900)，Wu Xiangsheng from Jiading county’s Nanxiang town founded a refreshment store here, which was originally named Changxing Building. Later changed to the present name, it specializes in Nanxiang brand steamed bread, which has been famous all over the country since the 20s and 30s of last century for its thin outer portion and thick stuffing. All the year around a long line will be waiting in front of Nanxiang Steamed Bread Store for the steamed bread. The wonderful taste of Nanxiang’s small steamed bread has been favored by people. It has now successfully developed chain stores abroad, with 15 branch stores successively set up in Japan, South Korea, Indonesia, Singapore, Malaysia, Hong Kong and other countries and regions.
